Services

Everything it takes to keep your elevators certified.

Elevator and vertical conveyance inspections

Annual (routine) inspections, acceptance inspections for new or altered equipment, and re-inspections to confirm violations have been corrected. We inspect passenger and freight elevators, escalators, moving walks, wheelchair and platform lifts, and dumbwaiters.

When to call

  • Your annual inspection is coming due
  • You've installed or modernized equipment
  • Cited violations need to be verified as corrected

Enforcement mediation and certification solutions

If the county has cited a violation or your certificate of operation has lapsed, we sort out what's required, coordinate the corrections with your elevator company, and work with the authority having jurisdiction until you're back in compliance.

When to call

  • You've received a violation notice or fine
  • Your certificate of operation has expired
  • A unit has been taken out of service

Contract evaluation and maintenance audits

An independent review of your elevator maintenance contract and the work being done under it, so you know whether you're getting what you pay for and what needs attention before your next inspection.

When to call

  • Your maintenance contract is up for renewal
  • You're seeing repeated breakdowns or callbacks
  • You want an independent second opinion

Not sure which one you need? Call 305-964-5119 and we'll point you in the right direction.

Why choose ECS

An inspection is only as good as the inspector. Our team has worked on every side of the elevator industry: installation and maintenance, contract administration, and county code enforcement.

  • We know what the county looks for

Our team includes a former Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) inspector from the Miami-Dade County Office of Elevator Safety, so we know how the county reviews and enforces the code.

  • Every inspection type, every kind of equipment

Our Qualified Elevator Inspectors (QEI) bring 23 years of inspection experience across elevators, escalators, lifts, and dumbwaiters.

  • We know the equipment, not just the code

Our inspectors are also certified elevator technicians, so we understand how the equipment is installed, maintained, and repaired.

  • We read maintenance contracts like an owner

Our team has administered vertical transportation contracts for Miami International Airport, so we know what a maintenance contract should deliver.

About ECS

Elevator Certification Solutions is a private elevator inspection company serving South Florida since 2017.

Our inspectors are Qualified Elevator Inspectors (QEI) who are also certified elevator technicians, with 23 years of inspection experience. The team has worked on every side of the industry: installing and maintaining equipment, administering vertical transportation contracts, and enforcing code as Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) inspectors with the Miami-Dade County Office of Elevator Safety.

That range is what every ECS inspection is built on. We tell you what the code requires, what it takes to pass, and what it means for the people riding the equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Have a question that isn't here? Call 305-964-5119 or email us.

What types of elevators do you inspect?

All of them: passenger and freight elevators (traction and hydraulic), escalators and moving walks, wheelchair and platform lifts, dumbwaiters, and limited-use/limited-application (LULA) elevators.

How often does an elevator need to be inspected in Florida?

Once a year. Under Florida's Elevator Safety Act, elevators must pass an annual (routine) inspection by a certified elevator inspector to keep the certificate of operation current. Your elevator company also performs periodic safety tests. Miami-Dade and Broward counties run their own elevator programs, so we'll confirm exactly what applies to your building.

What's the difference between an acceptance inspection and an annual inspection?

An acceptance inspection happens when equipment is newly installed or altered, to confirm it meets code before it goes into service. An annual (routine) inspection happens every year after that, to confirm the equipment is still safe and to keep its certificate of operation current.

Do you handle re-inspections after a violation?

Yes. Violations found during an inspection must be corrected within a set deadline and then verified by a follow-up inspection. We perform that re-inspection and can coordinate with your elevator company to keep the process moving.

What areas do you service?

Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe (including the Florida Keys), Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades counties. If your property is outside those counties, call us at 305-964-5119 and we'll let you know if we can help.
